Austin is a great destination to enjoy spring break, with plenty of activities and attractions to keep you entertained. Here are some suggestions on where to spend your time in the city:
Explore The Outdoors
Take advantage of the gorgeous spring weather and explore Austin's beautiful public parks. Popular options include Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake, and the Barton Creek Greenbelt. For chill vibes and some fun cliff-jumping (if the water’s deep enough), we recommend Campbell’s Hole, accessible via Spyglass Drive. For a social soak in some sweet rapids fed by small waterfalls, we suggest Sculpture Falls, accessible via Camp Craft Road.
Visit the State Capitol
Take a guided tour of the Texas State Capitol and learn about the history and workings of the state government. The massive three-story sunset red granite structure is the largest capitol building in the United States, standing 14 feet higher than the U.S. Capitol building. Keep an eye out for elegant and ornate details, from the giant brass door hinges, to the detailed handrails. Look closely at the brass chandeliers in the House of Representatives Chamber to find that the light bulbs spell out T-E-X-A-S. Admission is free, and tours are offered seven days a week.
Enjoy Live Music
Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World, so be sure to catch a show while you're in town. Check out the famous music venues like The Continental Club or Antone's to see local bands and famous musicians.
