Now that we have officially hit the temperate months here in Austin, it’s time to hit the ground running. We have put together a list of five of our favorite running trails in the Austin area.
 

Downtown

  • While the downtown sidewalks and streets of Austin are not specifically a trail, they are a great place for beginners to jog.

Lady Bird Lake Trail

  • With access points from Tarrytown to Riverside, Lady Bird Lake Trail is a primarily flat trail that travels in a loop around our city’s beautiful central river.

Slaughter Creek Trail

  • Located near the popular Circle C neighborhood, Slaughter Creek Trail is a fairly flat trail that is perfect for beginners.

Barton Creek Greenbelt

  • The Greenbelt is one of the most popular running trails for a multitude of reasons. Being one of Austin’s most central locations, the Barton Creek Greenbelt is a nature lover’s dream. The trail has multiple entrances all over the city. While the main trail is flat, various offshoots can offer a more advanced challenge.

Lakeway Canyonlands

  • Comprised of a 20-acre inlet near Lake Travis, Lakeway Canyonlands Trail is a scenic route that shows you much of what the area has to offer. During the wet months, keep an eye out for a beautiful waterfall.
