Best Pup Friendly Activities in Austin

Best Pup Friendly Activities in Austin

If you and your four-legged friend are looking for things to do together here in Austin, you’re in luck! The city is extremely dog-friendly and has so many fun opportunities, so we’ve narrowed down our favorite activities for you and your fur baby.

Off-Leash Dog Parks

There are tons of great off-leash dog parks in the city, and Yard Bar is definitely one of them. Yard Bar is a dog park and bar that serves cold beer, handcrafted cocktails, mocktails, and other seasonal favorites in a laid-back environment that feels like your own backyard! Sit back and enjoy delicious food and drink while your pup makes some new friends. There are even “bark rangers” there to oversee and keep playtime safe so puppy parents can enjoy the amazing local craft beer selection. The cost of entry is $9 per dog, or you can purchase a monthly membership for $25!

A few other favorites are Auditorium Shores at Town Lake, Barky Springs, Onion Creek Greenbelt, and Red Bud Isle!

Visit a Dog-Friendly Restaurant

While health codes usually prevent dogs from sitting inside, our 300 days of sun each year make patios and beer gardens the perfect place to dine al fresco with our best friends. There is no shortage of dog-friendly restaurants in the city, but here are a few of our favorites. Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden has the biggest tap wall in Texas with over 200 beers. Their massive outdoor beer garden welcomes dogs with water bowls and a special dog-friendly sausage called the Woof Wurst. All Wurst proceeds go to Austin Pets Alive, a local shelter and rescue. Other notable options include Jester King, Bouldin Acres, and Austin Terrier.

Take a Yoga Class with Your Pup

What’s a better way to unwind than some Doga (dog yoga)! Captivated by the magic of dogs, the profound connection between you and your dog, and the power of yoga in cultivating inner peace and well-being, Nicole Vykoukal founded Austin Doga in 2011 to offer you a meaningful way to bond and relax with your dog. Book your session with Nicole Vykoukal, yoga teacher and psychotherapist, in her East Austin, TX studio or online in the comfort of your own home or office. Click here for more information!

Shop Local with Your Dog at Barton Creek Farmers Market

Austintonians love shopping local, and you and your pup can do just that at Barton Creek Farmers Market. There you can support local Austin farmers and businesses without leaving your dog behind. They even have vendors with dog beds, treats, and dog food made with locally sourced meat.
