As of 1991, Austin has officially been dubbed “The Live Music Capital of the World,” but it’s safe to say that in the last decade, we’ve burgeoned into a foodie city as well. This year, more culinary adventures await. Check out these early 2020 openings.

Sammie’s
McGuire Moorman’s latest, Sammie’s is slated to open this fall, serving classic Italian fare on West Sixth. The name references the location’s first restaurant, a drive-in burger spot opened in 1939 by Sammie Joseph, although better known as the most recent incarnation, Hut’s Hamburgers.

Ways & Means Oyster Bar
The popular Southern California seafood restaurant is opening its first Texas location in the former Annie’s Cafe space in downtown Austin. Oysters, jumbo lump crab huevos rancheros, and king crab legs are all on the menu, plus any dish that use Julen’s Ausome Sauce will benefit autism charities.
