Meet Moreland: Amy Deane

Meet Moreland: Amy Deane

We are thrilled to welcome Amy Deane, REALTOR®, to the Moreland Properties team. Amy is looking forward to hitting the ground running, using her Austin expertise and preexisting knowledge of the city’s real estate scene to help clients in the buying and selling processes.

Why Real Estate

I have been involved in construction for years with our family business, Michael Deane Homes, Inc., and have often been a go-to real estate resource to help friends, family and others in the community creatively find off-market properties by putting together buyers and sellers. After my three children entered school, I decided it was a good time to turn my passion for connecting others into a career.

How She Gets Involved Around Austin

I have been involved in many areas of Austin including serving on the school boards at Good Shepherd Episcopal School and Casis Elementary, serving as President of the Austin Country Club Dolphins youth swim team, and am now actively involved as a volunteer at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School where my three children attend.  I have enjoyed being involved with fundraising efforts at GenAustin, GLOW FoundationDell’s Children’s Council, and my role as Chairperson of the Elizabeth Ann Seton Board where I was able to connect with the Garrison Commander of the military installation off Mopac and convince him the value of bringing Austinites behind those mysterious gates.  This event we created called “Live at Camp Mabry!” contributes millions of dollars each year to the Seton NICU and the mother/baby services at Seton Medical Center Austin.

Her Perfect Weekend in Austin

My perfect Austin weekend would involve waking up early and starting my day with fresh ground Anderson’s Coffee before jumping into a Saturday morning hot vinyasa yoga class at Breath and Body Yoga in Tarrytown. Then, I would have brunch with friends at Elizabeth Street CaféJosephine HouseClarks, or True Food Kitchen — eating outdoors always! Afterward, I’d love to come home and hang at the pool with my family before taking them out to our usual Mexican food spots of either Matt’s El Rancho on South Lamar or Maudie's Tex Mex in Tarrytown. I’d start my Sunday with a walk around Lady Bird Lake with my husband and stop for sunrise coffee at Alta’s Café near The Four Seasons.  Then we would head off to church at Covenant and hit the spectacular brunch at Fonda San Miguel in Rosedale or maybe go for a more casual greasy spoon at Cisco’s on the East Side. From there, I’d probably need a nap from a food coma but would rally in order to take the kids tubing on Lake Austin. We always love to complete our weekend with an outdoor family BBQ eating great steaks from Lee’s Meat Market on the back porch while watching the sunset.

What She Wants in Her Dream Home

As the spouse of a builder, I am lucky (well, outside of the packing part) that I’ve been able to build six dream homes in the past decade, and have no doubt our “build-and-move” trend will continue!  The things I love most in our home are the Rehme Steel windows, the Miele built-in coffee maker, steam shower and Scotsman nugget ice maker…a must when drinking Dulce Vida margaritas or Austin Cocktails.  On my next home, I would die to have an in-ground trampoline and a driveway multipurpose pickleball/basketball court for the kids (well, maybe for me too!)  To keep my hubby happy, we will always prioritize beautiful landscaping from Land West, an awesome outdoor kitchen from Harway Appliances,  and most importantly, his man cave to escape kid chaos!

Looking Forward

I have always said my most valuable skill set is being a connector. My friends always joke and call me “Ask Amy” (an old play on "Ask Jeeves" before Google became our common search engine) because I seem to be the source people go to in order to get answers — not only for real estate and design but for doctor recommendations, party planning resources, vacation ideas….you name it!  I look forward to becoming that connector with my clients and being their go-to person to get the results they need both on the buy and sell side.
