Texas is known for many things, but one people may not know about is our robust and growing wine country! Texas wine country is only getting better, so here are our current picks for the best Texas wineries to visit this summer.
William Chris Vineyard
Founders William "Bill" Blackmon and Chris Brundrett believe the best wines are grown, not made, and should be an expression of their native Texas terroir. Chris and his team are innovators in the Texas wine industry when it comes to aging techniques. In addition to oak barrels they also age wines in concrete tanks. Their concrete tanks allow for a controlled introduction of oxygen throughout the fermentation and aging processes. They were the first vineyard in the U.S. to have a Galileo Tank imported from Bordeaux, France exclusively for William Chris Vineyards. You can visit the hill country winery, in Hye, Texas, or the Urban Winery, Lost Draw Cellars, in downtown Fredericksburg.
